View location on a mapAlthough the 4" x 6" aluminum plaque on it may not be impressive, this tree is. According to a record in 1982, it was placed on the American Forestry Association's National Register of Big Trees. In the same year, it received the Michigan Botanical Club's Big Tree plaque. The tree is located behind the congregational United Church of Christ, at 73996 Fulton. The church's Reverend says much work must be done in order to save the tree. The nine cables that were used to support it back in the 1980s are no longer doing their job. The church plans to get estimates from tree services to see how much it will cost to keep this piece of Armada history.
